All praises are for Allaah (سبحانه و تعالى), we praise Him and we seek His help. We seek His forgiveness from the evil of ourselves and from our wrong deeds. Whomsoever Allaah (سبحانه و تعالى) guides, none can misguide and whomsoever He misguides, none can guide. I testify that there is no god worthy of worship except Allaah (سبحانه و تعالى), He is alone and has no partner. I testify that Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه وسلم ) is His servant and last messenger, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, his family, his companions and those who follow him in righteousness until the last day.

Around 1992-93 while studying at the city of the prophet( صلى الله عليه وسلم )we noticed a book which was popular amongst the people. This book was Hisnul Muslim. We saw that the book taught about the practical way of life of the Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وسلم ), something a person cannot do without in his daily life, if he claims to love Allaah and His messenger ( صلى الله عليه وسلم ).

The thought of giving it to someone who may learn at least one supplication from it and we could get rewarded for it without the person’s reward being decreased in anyway, gave us the idea of buying some (in Arabic) and distributing them. Indeed you are all aware that people from around the world come to visit Makkah and Madeenah throughout the year, especially at Hajj time. Different organizations distribute books on different topics to these visitors. However, there was not one that dealt with the subject that Hisnul Muslim deals with. Additionally, Hisnul Muslim was only available in Arabic at the time. So we then decided to write to the body that was responsible for distributing these books, with the idea of translating the book into different languages and then distributing them to the hujaaj who would then take them back to their countries. Our intention was to spread the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وسلم ) all over the world. After sending three letters (one by hand) and not having received any reply, we decided to start this project ourselves. First we decided to translate it into the English language titled Fortification of the Muslim through remembrance and supplication…

Before starting the translation project we had to work on three things;

(1) Placing the tashkeel (vowels) in the Arabic text (as they were not present in the Arabic version) to make it easier for the people to read. For this we gave it to Dr. Faa Abdur-Raheem, May Allaah preserve him, (author of the Madeenah Books 1-3) who completed the task. Then we also advised Sheikh Qahtaani- May Allaah preserve him- to do the same to the Arabic version, which he then did.

(2) We took the book to the Khidmat As Sunnah (Serving the Sunnah) department in the Islamic University of Madeenah, and gave the book to Dr ‘Adil who was working there, and asked him to check all the Ahadeeth and to let us know if there were any which we should leave out. After checking it he told us that there were a few hadeeth which scholars have differed on and that we should translate it as it is because Sheikh Qahtaani included them in his work (most of the checking that Sheikh Qahtaani has referred to is of Sheikh Al- Albaani - may Allaah have mercy on him - but differed on a select few). (3) Some people were suggesting that we should have transliteration in it for those who don’t know Arabic. We looked into this by asking some scholars and found out that writing Quraan ayaat in transliteration is not allowed (haraam). As for the du’aa we were strongly advised not to use it. One of the reasons is that it misleads people with mispronunciation and maybe a person will never learn Arabic and never be able to pick up a mushaf (Quraan) and read it! Lastly, and most significant you will not find this from amongst the Salaf (pious predecessors). There will more information about this on the Dawah page.

In the books that we translated we left out transliteration. Despite this, others came after and added it to the Swahili language and other translations of the book. It (transliteration) has become common amongst the general public even amongst some students of knowledge who are not aware of the fact that it’s not the way of the Salaf.

Our advice to you is, whoever reads or downloads the book, please do not use the transliteration of the ayaat of the Quraan. Rather remove it! Furthermore regarding using it for du’aa it is best to avoid it and to advise others to try instead to learn how to read (basic) Arabic. This will only take a little bit of time with tawfeeq from Allaah Ta’aalaa and then after that, some effort from ourselves. This way you will be able to read the Quraan. All praise and thanks to Allaah, the first language to be translated was in the English language, followed by French, Bengali, Urdu, Swahili, Malay, Hausa, etc. The books became very popular and others caught on to the idea and started translating into their own languages. (The book was even translated into English, again, and at first titled Citadel of a Muslim and then changed to Fortress of a Muslim – it has transliteration of some surahs as well as du’aas in it - not to be confused with our publications).

Now Hisnul Muslim is available in at least forty languages. We also have it on audio in English which was recorded in the late 90’s. That was before the brothers on the tape finished their studies and left.

The purpose is to please Allaah ( سبحانه و تعالى) and to gain reward from Him. To make it easy for you to download the books (e.g. onto mobiles…etc…) for FREE. To give you a chance to earn some reward, by telling others or sending it to them. You may know some people of different languages (maybe at your work place or university etc…) who could use these books, and if Allaah wills, it could be very rewarding for you.

We buy the books at distribution price and then send them to those in need in different countries.
